Changes and Impacts of Revised IEEE Guide for Performing Arc-Flash Hazard Calculations

Registration Deadline: Tuesday February 19, 2019 ×
Description:

The electrical world is a hazardous place. NFPA-70E and IEEE-1584 Standards help keep electricians and engineers safe. The 16-years-old IEEE-1584 Standard, “IEEE Guide for Performing Arc-Flash Hazard Calculations” has just been revised and published. The new standard provides guidance, steps, and equations to calculate the Arc Flash Energy and Boundaries for electrical equipment. When used with NFPA-70E, the electrical worker can determine what level of PPE to wear.

The Standard has been radically changed with more input variables and improved accuracy. Electrode Configuration and Box Dimensions variables will now be required. These new variables will increase the cost of performing these studies, and possibly render your previous arc flash study obsolete.
